What is the Youth Leadership Initiative?

The HEC Paris Youth Leadership Initiative is an intensive, residential program for high school students who are eager to develop their potential. All participants are from 15 to 18 years old and proficient in English.

Our leadership team is dedicated to fostering an environment for students’ self-discovery and empowerment. Participants learn to lead by example and thrive through teamwork and compelling projects. They develop essential skills needed to succeed in the 21st century.

Our mission at the Youth Leadership Initiative is to empower today’s youth to become confident and effective communicators who are self-aware, socially responsible, engaged leaders. Students benefit from an interactive and international environment where they strengthen their leadership skills and mindset.
They learn how to communicate effectively and work productively in teams, with the capacity to positively influence others and effect change. Participants leave the program inspired to move forward with confidence.

What is unique about this residential leadership program?

The program adapts leadership development tools and techniques – traditionally proposed for older students – for younger students in a way where they can immediately apply their learnings. High school students discover their personal leadership styles and strengths in a safe learning environment while benefiting from a support network of international peers.

It often amazes us how connected students become and to what extent they remain in touch to support one another in their endeavors after the program close. With diverse students coming from five continents, this is especially impressive.

What can students expect during the week?

Our team guides students throughout the day in interactive sessions focused on leadership development, creativity and innovation. Workshops are highly engaging; students are often up and moving. There is a lot of dialogue and debate inside and outside of the classroom setting.

Students benefit from coaching sessions and workshops on themes as diverse as networking, public speaking, communication and conflict resolution. Each day is an opportunity for learning with journaling opportunities and debrief sessions with facilitators.

Students reside on the HEC Paris campus and benefit from the same dorm rooms as full-time HEC students. There are ample opportunities to connect with peers from around the world, whether it is during shared meals, in sessions or organized program activities, or during free time on campus.

Students earn the HEC Paris Youth Leadership Initiative Certificate upon successful program completion.
